An urban oasis
A new kitchen extension had recently been completed at this lovely Victorian townhouse. In addition, bi-fold doors open out onto the garden. A calm, urban oasis was created as a result of modern design combined with soft planting. Also, it was key to overcome the privacy issues. The garden is overlooked on three sides, hence the use of pleached trees to offer seclusion. First of all, three seating areas were considered to follow the sun throughout the day. Different levels ensured a feeling of increased space. Seasonal interest was provided by evergreen topiary and architectural perennials. The dynamics of the space can be altered by the repositioned of the new planters. As a result of carefully chosen materials and planting palette, the garden ensured a contemporary yet calm atmosphere.
